Baltimore Unit

On January 15, 1983, the Interdenominational Church Ushers Association of Maryland, Incorporated organized another unit, Baltimore City Unit. Its first president was Brother Joshua R. Jones, who for many years had serviced as vice president of state and many other capacities. As the first president, he strived to keep in step with the state and national activities. In, 1984, Brother Willie King took the reign as Baltimore City’s second president. In 1989 Sister Jessie L. Brown was elected as its third president with Sister Muriel Gray being elected as our fourth President in 1995. In 1997, Brother Lloyd C. Morse, Jr., was elected our fifth President followed by Brother Preston Jennings in 1999 as the unit’s the sixth President. In 2001, Sister Muriel Gray served again as the seventh president and in 2002, Sister Patricia Harris became the unit’s eighth President. In 2009, Sister Sandra D. Logan served as the ninth President followed by Brother Gerald A. Hill, Sr. in 2011 serving as the tenth president of the Baltimore Unit. In 2015 Sister Vanessa W. Lucas was elected as our eleventh President and in 2018, Brother Lamar Garrett was elected as the twelve President, a position he is still currently serving.

In 1990 Baltimore County joined the Baltimore City Unit. As a result of this addition, Brother Lloyd Morse recommended that The Baltimore City Unit be renamed to The Baltimore Unit.

It is the goal of the Baltimore Unit to continue to reach out and invite other churches of all denominations to join the fellowship of this Christian Organization.
